As each year rolls by, I am struck by how quickly the 4th comes around. Wasn’t it yesterday that we watched the parade, saw the Pet Pageant, got Crisco on us, and saw the downhill race? I am certain that I just helped clean up the Yacht Club after the cocktailparty… where has all the time gone?
With all this in mind, I am reminded of what a huge effort it is to get all of the events going for this holiday. I am amazed at how many people it takes to accomplish the effort! Not only are there volunteers coordinating each event but a multitude of people working behind the scenes to get them off the ground. The 4th of July celebration in Riverton is truly a town-wide effort!
Those who work on these tasks do so because they believe in the end result: an amazing celebration commemorating the birth of our county! The 4th of July volunteers do not receive any compensation beyond the good feeling they have seeing people enjoy the day. Remember that they participate because they want a great day, too! So, if you see a 4th of July volunteer, please don’t forget to thank them for their hard work.
Consider offering your time and talents to help out this year. A lot of people-power is needed for Treasure Day, before the parade, during the Bill Oliver Run for Fun, before and after the cocktail party, and at the downhill race. Contact Tracy Foedisch at 856-786-2088 to join in the effort… your 4th of July Committee needs you!!
Don't hesitate to contact me for more information.
