Welcome to Riverton 4th of July 2015!
* * * A little rain never stopped any 4th of July activities! Everything will go on as scheduled unless it is thundering and lightening. * * *
The party is almost started and the 4th of July Committee has been working since January to insure that we have another great season of patriotic festivities.
Our 2015 town wide yard sale is now history and was another success. Proceeds from the event go to help support all of the 4th of July events.
Back again is the Riverton 4th of July Cocktail Party to be held at the Yacht Club on June 27th. Tickets will go on sale Memorial Day weekend at Beneficial Bank and Riverton Library. What a beautiful venue for that evening. Don’t miss it; buy your tickets quickly as it has sold out for several years now.
Next, bring your picnic, blankets, and chairs to Riverton Park on Sunday evening, June 28th, for a Concert in the Park at 5:30 p.m. Food will be on sale by our local restaurants including Juanita’s, Milanese, Nellie Bly’s, and Orange Blossom Café.
Runners can look forward to our annual 5K and 1 Mile Run for Fun again, this year. This event has reached and exceeded 300+ participants for many years and continues to grow.
The parade will line up on the riverbank and march on Main Street as it has for 118 years. Consider being a part of the parade, decorate your bike, create a float, drive your classic car and wave to the thousands of people watching from the sidelines.
A dunk tank sponsored by the Riverton Police Association will be a new highlight at the Park Festivities along with all of the other fun. Moon bounces, egg toss games, greased pole, camel, pony, and carriage rides will be among the regular favorites at the park.
The Downhill Race will return to Elm Terrace after a two year stint on Linden Avenue. Get your cars ready! Elm Terrace promises to be a faster race course so it should be exciting.
Don’t forget to run back to the park after the Downhill to see the Pet Pageant sponsored every year by the Riverton Library. See those wild and wacky canines, turtles, cats, guinea pigs, and all kinds of other animals parade their patriotic spirit on the 4th.
Just in case you haven’t gotten tired out by now run on down to the riverbank to see the raft and canoe race sponsored by our very own Parade Marshal, the Riverton Yacht Club.
This 4th promises to be a spectacular series of events! Join us all as we host Riverton’s 118th celebration of Independence Day..
Happy 4th of July!
